POWELL, Tenn. — Rural Metro Fire has shut down the 9300 block of Pedigo Road after crews responded to a three-alarm structure fire at 11 a.m. EDT.
RMF said when crews arrived at the scene, they found a huge structure "fully engulfed with flames on one end."
Crews worked to contain the flames, battling the fire as well as the heat and humidity, RMF said.
"Water was secured from a nearby hydrant, but the structure was 900' from the road, adding another challenge to the incident," the department said. "All occupants were safely outside the structure, and no firefighters were injured in the incident."
Multiple departments responded to the scene, including those from Anderson County and Knoxville, RMF said.
"We are extremely thankful to our fire service friends from Anderson County and Knoxville who provided critical assistance to our firefighters in this extreme heat." the department said.
RMF said it was also thankful for the neighbors in the area who helped the department by providing water and other assistance to the crews.
"Pedigo Rd at that address is completely CLOSED!" according to the department. "Please do not drive around or over Fire hose!"
According to the department, Pedigo Road is still closed as of 3:45 p.m. EDT on Saturday.
"The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross, and the cause of the fire is under investigation," the department said.
Information such as the cause of the fire is unknown at this time. This story will be updated when more information is available.
