The boy supposedly threatened to bring a gun to Ridgedale School. Multiple law enforcement agencies worked together to identify the boy and arrest him, KPD said.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Officials charged a 13-year-old boy after he threatened to bring a gun to school and shoot someone, the Knoxville Police Department said.

The boy supposedly threatened to bring a gun to Ridgedale School. Multiple KPD divisions, Knox County Schools, the Tennessee Department of Homeland Security and the Knox County District Attorney's Office worked together to identify the 13-year-old, according to KPD.

Officers went to the 13-year-old's home and arrested him late Wednesday night. He was charged with threatening mass violence, KPD said.

“We will have zero tolerance for those who make threats of violence towards our schools,” KPD Chief Paul Noel said. “I am grateful for the quick intervention of our officers and law enforcement partners after being notified of this threat.”
