'Ride for a Hero' | Motorcycle riders cruise through Maryville to honor Officer Kenny Moats 8 years after his death

The suspect in the shooting pleaded guilty to murder along with five other charges. He is now serving a life sentence without parole.

MARYVILLE, Tenn. — Sunday marks eight years since Maryville Police Officer Kenneth Ray Moats was shot and killed in the line of duty. With "Ride for a Hero," motorcycle riders honored him on Aug. 25 with a cruise through Maryville. 

Officer Moats was with the Maryville Police Department for nine years. He was responding to a domestic violence call to a home near Kerr Way when he was shot. The suspect in the shooting pleaded guilty to murder along with five other charges.
