Powell HS student gives the perfect promposal for trio of students with special needs

"I was sitting at home one night just thinking about what I could do for the girls and how much they mean to me, and that's when it came to me. How about I take them to prom?" said Camden Baker.

Powell — A Powell High School junior planned the perfect pitch for three of his classmates with special needs.

"I was sitting at home one night just thinking about what I could do for the girls and how much they mean to me, and that's when it came to me. How about I take them to prom?" said Camden Baker.

Baker, 17, got to work on his "promposal" for Kenzie, Sloane and Daisy.

He surprised them in their classroom Tuesday with a cake and got down on one knee.

"Everybody's cameras were out," said Baker. "I was freaking out!"

All of the girls said yes.

"The fact that they said yes to me is nice. I was a little nervous," said Baker.

Camden and the girls are longtime friends.

"We hear Camden's name a lot at home. Sloane thinks he hung the moon," said her mother, Kelly Majors. "She was super excited to tell everyone about her flowers and was super excited to tell everyone she's going to prom."

Camden wants to make sure the night is nothing short of perfect.

"I'm going to go all out for them, see if I can get some jobs and raise some money so I can make the best opportunity possible for them," said Baker.

And he is already working on his dance moves.

"I know Kenzie's got some moves so she'll probably show me a few," he said.

It's a lesson that goes far beyond the dance floor.

"It's sometimes a big thing when you're a teenager to step outside your comfort zone and do something that maybe not all the other kids are doing," said Majors. "He is going to make their day and their night and their year."
