The hometown of Lady Vols basketball legend Pat Summitt unveiled a bronze statue Friday in her honor.

Summitt was born in Clarksville and grew up on a farm in Montgomery County. The city formed a committee in 2013 to plan, design, construct and dedicate a plaza to honor Summitt and her career.

The statue is now part of the Pat Head Summitt Legacy Plaza in Liberty Park. There is also an interpretative display of her life story.

Former players and some of Pat's family were there for the unveiling, which was also open to the public.
