KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Remote Area Medical is embarking on another milestone expedition as people lined up Thursday night for their 1,000th clinic in Knoxville.

The non-profit will be holding free mobile medical clinics to provide medical, dental and vision care to those in need. All services provided are free and no ID is required.

The clinic will be held on February 1 - 3 at Chilhowee Park's Jacob Building at 3301 East Magnolia Avenue in Knoxville.

Services will include general medical exams along with dental cleanings, fillings, extractions, x-rays, eye exams, and eyeglass prescriptions.

Patients can show up at the parking lot no later than midnight to line up for a ticket for the clinic. Tickets will be handed out at 3 a.m. Feb. 1 and patients are seen in a first-come, first-serve basis when doors open at 6 a.m.

RAM encourages everyone who would like to take part in the services to arrive as early as possible, particularly those looking for dental services.

Patients at the Knoxville RAM clinic will also be able to register their unaltered household pets for free spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, dog tags and microchipping.

RAM said it expects to treat roughly 1,000 people from Knoxville and surrounding communities during they three-day clinic.

“For the past 34 years RAM has called the Knoxville area home, and we simply would not be able to provide free care for tens of thousands of people around the globe each year with the kindness and support of this community.  We are so excited to hold our 1,000th expedition, offering free dental, vision, medical, and veterinary care, right here where it all started in 1985,” RAM CEO, Jeff Eastman said.

RAM is also looking for additional vision and dental volunteers to help at the Knoxville clinic. Volunteers are asked to visit RAM's website or contact them at (865) 579-1530.

Since being founded in 1985 by the late Stan Brock, RAM said it has provided free care for more than 780,000 people and 68,000 animals.
