KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — An East Tennessee blood center is looking to beat its counterpart in Kentucky during an annual competition to see which organization can collect the most donations.
MEDIC Regional Blood Center said Monday that its annual "Orange and Blue Competition" has begun, running from Nov. 18 through Nov. 22. During that time, it will compete against Kentucky Blood Center to collect the most donations.
While MEDIC has lost the previous 2 years, it is seeking to claim the trophy this year. Anyone who donates will get a special edition hoodie and coupons for East Tennessee organizations, according to a release from MEDIC.
It said anyone who wants to donate will need to make an appointment ahead of time, as well. Donors can make appointments either online or by calling MEDIC Regional Blood Center at 865-524-3074.
