KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — The Rural Metro Fire Department is asking Knox County residents to refrain from any outdoor burning on Wednesday amid poor air quality conditions.
A Code Orange Air Quality Alert has been issued by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. During this alert, people within sensitive groups are recommended to make outdoor activities shorter and less intense. People with lung diseases, such as asthma, children and older adults should reduce prolonged outdoor activities.
This alert is in place for Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville and Great Smoky Mountains National Park for Aug. 28.
TDEC said they will continue to monitor weather patterns and hourly ozone levels throughout the region and issue additional alerts as needed.
