KPD identifies man killed in South Knoxville car crash

Knoxville police say a high speed crash killed one person and hurt two others.

Knoxville Police have identified the victims of Friday night's deadly crash on W. Martin Mill Pike.

According to KPD, Michael Anderson, 20, was killed after investigators believe he was speeding when he lost control of his Nissan Versa while traveling south on Martin Mill Pike and hit a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer.

After hitting the Mercury, Anderson then crashed into a tree, according to KPD. The passenger in the Nissan, Robert Anderson, and the driver of the Mercury, Sherry Ammons, were taken to UT Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

"Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors by the driver of the Nissan Versa," KPD said in a release.

The investigation is on-going.

Emergency crews found one person dead from a crash on Martin Mill Pike Friday night.

It happened around 8 p.m.

Police tell 10News a driver lost control of a car while speeding around a curve. The car then struck an oncoming vehicle before hitting a tree.

Two other people were transported to UT Medical for non-life threatening injuries.

Police are still investigating the crash.
