KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Outside the Knox County District Attorney's Office, there is a tree shining bright with several ornaments hanging from it. It's part of a ceremony meant to honor people who died due to overdoses.
The Knoxville Police Department said Tuesday that members of the Drug-Related Death Task Force gathered with the Drug Overdose Support Group and staff from the Knox County District Attorney's Office for the annual Overdose Memorial Tree Ceremony.
As part of the ceremony, participants hung ornaments in honor and remembrance of people throughout the community who died due to drug overdoses.
The tree will stay on display outside the District Attorney's Office throughout the end of the year.
