CLINTON, Tennessee — Local and state leaders gathered Wednesday for the third year in a row to honor Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps members from different schools across Anderson County.
Two Navy programs and an Air Force program made up the fleet of students who were celebrated at today's event.
Republican representative Chuck Fleischmann the cadets' service during the event.
"Our nation — at the local level, at the state level, and, of course, myself at the federal level — are grateful for their volunteering, are grateful for their service," Fleischmann said. "They understand that when they put the uniform on of our great nation, regardless of the branch, that the citizenry understands that they're an all-volunteer service. That they will serve our country so well and that we say a profound thanks to them."
The ceremony concluded with a cadet from each school accepting a proclamation from Anderson County Mayor Terry Frank. That proclamation formally recognized the students of the JROTC programs and proclaimed Wednesday as the "Third Annual Junior ROTC Appreciation Day."
