OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — An Oak Ridge airport wouldn't significantly impact the environment, according to an assessment from the Federal Aviation Administration.
The assessment doesn't approve federal funding for the airport but is a step in bringing the proposed development to life.
For over a decade, Oak Ridge has discussed building an airport in the city. Community leaders successfully lobbied the state to invest millions of dollars in the project.
"The airport will support growth in the business, industrial, and tourism sectors and allow leaders to fly to Oak Ridge, putting the City on the map for technology companies," The City of Oak Ridge's website states.
