ANDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Anderson County Legal Services Advisory Committee has opened a job posting for Law Director. On Sept. 1 the committee and the Anderson County Commission appointed Chancellor James "Jamie" Brooks as special legal counsel for a 90-day period while leaders searched for a candidate to permanently fill the role.
According to a release, the advisory committee has met regularly since early August to discuss the process of finding a new person to fill the role.
The Legal Services Advisory Committee will review qualified candidates on Oct. 28 with interviews tentatively scheduled for early November. The suggested candidate can be expected to begin working in early December, but the starting date could be postponed to early January 2025.
Qualified attorneys can submit applications for the position online. Once the committee agrees on a candidate before mid-November, the candidate will be presented to the county commission that month for approval.
The former Law Director Jay Yeager held the position for nearly 23 years before he unexpectedly died on July 26, 2024.
