A Powell Middle School teacher wasn't badly hurt when hit by a car at school

According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, a Karns basketball coach was driving near the front entrance the school parking lot just before 4 pm Monday. Teacher Michelle Ranvek, 38, thought he had stopped to let her walk in front of his vehicle, but he didn't see her and struck her with the right front bumper.

Rural/Metro sent an ambulance to the school, but Ranvek refused to be taken to the hospital. Instead, she said she'd seen her doctor for treatment of minor injuries.

No charges or citations will be filed.
