(WBIR-North Knoxville) Knox County Schools decided Wednesday to put a special education teacher facing assault charges on administrative leave without pay.
Officials arrested Fulton teacher Gary Hamilton on Monday. A freshman accused Hamilton of throwing him against a wall and punching him three times in the face.
Hamilton was originally on paid administrative leave, but a couple days later the school system placed him on administrative leave without pay.
According to Hamilton's personal file, he was previously a teacher's assistant at Gibbs High School and Hardin Valley Academy. Documents show that Hamilton has not been fired or asked to resign. He passed all background checks before he was hired.
