LENOIR CITY, Tenn. — The No Wake Zone at Fort Loudon Marina has been temporarily expanded to create safe working conditions for crews to remove debris after a roof collapsed at a dock after heavy snowfall, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency.

TWRA defines no wake as "a vessel traveling at or below idle speed, or at such speed that the boat or its wake (waves) is not sufficient to cause possible injury or damage to other persons, boats, or property."

An emergency rule was filed after the State Attorney General signed it last week, TWRA said. It states, “Due to storm clean up, all vessels being operated within 1,500 feet of Fort Loudon Marina, near Tennessee River Mile 602, shall be subject to a temporary no wake speed.”

The expansion will be in effect for 180 days.

According to TWRA, buoys marking the expanded No Wake Zone will be placed during the extended period.

TWRA Boating Officers will also have an additional presence in the area for education and enforcement.
