KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Cars parked on certain roadways in some parts of North Knoxville will need to move on June 1, according to the city of Knoxville.

Crews will be refreshing street markings, replacing signs, sweeping streets, picking up trash and brush and weeding the public right-of-ways, the city said.

"This work will be completed on sections of Irwin Street, Bearden Place, Pruett Place, Wray Street and Bernard and Dameron Avenues," according to the city.

The city said all vehicles in the impacted area must be moved by 6 a.m. on Saturday. Those who have not moved their cars by that time will have their vehicles towed. Streets are expected to be back open by 6 p.m.

"We want to thank residents and business owners, in advance, for their patience as we work on this project,” said Mark Elliott, the city parking manager. "This is similar to the roundup we do in Fort Sanders every year. We will be posting no-parking signs in the days prior to the closure and will be posting reminders on the City’s social media channels.”

The city said traffic flow would not be affected, although some temporary closures may occur as needed due to safety protocols. In the event of inclement weather, the date will be moved to June 2, the city said.
