It took almost two years to go from dream to reality and Tuesday the vision was completed.
A local art teacher won a $100,000 grant to transform an unused place into the new Beaumont Arts Playspace.
Beaumont Magnet Academy celebrated the grand opening of the new Beaumont Arts Playspace Tuesday afternoon.
The arts integrated playground features an outdoor stage with chalkboard backdrop, outdoor musical instruments, an amphitheater, painted playground games, a mosaic staircase, sculptural entrance art and signs and several large murals by local artist Curtis Glover.
Beaumont art teacher Cheryl Burchett applied for the Farmers Insurance "Thank America's Teachers" Dream Big Grant during the summer of 2016. In December 2016, the school was awarded the grant to bring this project to life.
