National Down Syndrome Society hosts 'Knoxville Buddy Walk' on Sunday

According to the group's website, more than $89,000 was raised out of its $85,000 goal.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville "Buddy Walk" was held on Sunday, with many people joining the event for Down Syndrome awareness. 

The Down Syndrome Awareness Group hosted the event at World's Fair Park to raise money for the organization with a focus on education, advocacy and celebration centered around Down Syndrome. 

"Whether you have Down syndrome, know someone who does, or just want to show your support, take the first step and donate or register today! Help us spread the word; all are welcome for our day of celebration!" the group said.
