NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Lucas Daggs is one of many Good Samaritans going around Middle Tennessee and helping people stuck on the side of the road.

He told NBC affiliate WSMV that he's spent three straight days helping people out, giving drivers rides for free. He said he started working to help people after feeling bored at home.

“I had nothing to do, and I had a truck,” Daggs said. “I thought, well, I might as well go do something good for people.”

Since then, he has been loading his truck with supplies and looking for people who slide off the road, who get stuck in a ditch, or who need a ride home. He said when he does find someone, he hooks his car up to theirs and slowly pulls them out.

“I want to say I’ve pulled probably about 15 people out of ditches and I’ve helped transport about 10 to 15 as well,” Daggs said.

He also isn't the only one who's been on the roads helping people in Middle Tennessee.

“I’ve seen plenty of individuals with trucks or capable vehicles that are safe to be out helping people out of ditches just like what I’m doing,” Daggs said. “If I have the means to help people, I might as well just help."

He, along with numerous emergency responders and leaders, recommends people stay home during the winter weather. If they absolutely must stay home, they should use extreme caution.
