A motorcyclist died and a passenger was hurt after their motorcycle crashed into the median on I-40 East in Cocke County Saturday afternoon.
Tennessee Highway Patrol said the motorcycle ran off the left side of the highway and collided with the cable barrier in the center median around mile marker 433.
Leanna Craig, 20, of Crimora, Virginia, died. Her passenger, 49-year-old Christopher Craig, also of Crimora, Virginia, has non-life threatening injuries.
THP's report said both of them were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
THP shut down all lanes on I-40 East between mile markers 432 and 435 for about an hour starting around 1:40 p.m.
All lanes were open as of about 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
