Morristown Fire Department crew pulls dog out of 12-foot sinkhole Friday evening

The Morristown Fire Department said they received a call about a trapped dog in a sinkhole Friday evening and were able to pull the dog out.

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. — The Morristown Fire Department said crews pulled a dog out of a 12-foot sinkhole on Friday.

According to a post on social media, the fire department received a call about a trapped dog Friday evening, and the Morristown Fire Engine 4 crew responded. Lt. Chris Covington, engineer Terry Click, and firefighter Austin Rutherford all went to where the dog was trapped.

The sinkhole was also around 10 feet wide, allowing crews to drop a ladder into it and climb down to retrieve the dog. Rutherford was able to grab it and walk back up the ladder safely.

"So glad they were able to help someone's furry friend," the fire department said on social media.
