Morgan Wallen fans excited for his upcoming concert

Sneedville native and Gibbs High graduate Morgan Wallen is coming home to perform at Neyland.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — An East Tennessee native has announced he will perform at Neyland Stadium in September and thousands of locals want to get their hands on tickets.

Joey Tack, one of the hosts of Joey and Nancy on 107.7, said performing inside Neyland Stadium is something very few artists have done.

“The biggest artists do it. Kenny has done it, Garth has done it. Before that, the Jacksons did it in the early 80s,” said Tack.

Sneedville native and Gibbs High graduate Morgan Wallen is coming home to perform at Neyland. Tack said over the past couple of years Morgan Wallen has taken over country music.

He said country music lovers here in East Tennessee have supported Wallen through those years.

“When it’s a boy who went to Gibbs High School and grew up in Sneedville and was raised on WIVK, you want to root for him,” said Tack. “So, there is definitely an element of, ‘he is one of ours’.”

But those in-demand tickets may be hard to come by. Tickets went on sale to football season ticket holders on Tuesday and will open to the public on Wednesday.

WIVK is giving away free tickets to some lucky fans.

“Our phones are on fire, and our text messages. It is unbelievable.”

Tack said only one day after Wallen’s announcement, it is apparent that East Tennessee is ready to welcome him home after the mark he has made on the area.

To enter the WIVK contest, Tack said every weekday this week, text the day’s keyword every time you hear a Morgan Wallen song. Then, listen the following day at 8:00 a.m. to hear if you won. If you win, you have 10 minutes and seven seconds to claim the tickets.
