MONROE COUNTY, Tennessee — As cold weather descended on East Tennessee, Monroe County authorities said anyone who needs a safe and warm place to sleep Monday night into Tuesday morning could go the Justice Center.
The county's sheriff, Tommy Jones, said on social media that the Justice Center's lobby on the jail side would be open from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. as a warming center.
"Anyone needing a place to warm up or relax in a safe and warm environment are welcome to come on inside," he said in the social media post.
He also reminded people to either bring their pets inside or make sure they have a warm place to sleep during cold weather.
The Justice Center is located at 4500 New Hwy 68 in Madisonville.
