Missing woman's body found in Tennessee River

Update Tuesday, March 7, 10:15 p.m.: The Knox County Sheriff's Office says the body of a missing 35-year-old Knox County woman was found in the Tennessee River Tuesday afternoon.

Christi Ann Hampson was last seen Feb. 21 at her home on Greylock Way. 

KCSO said Hampson's body was found along the bank of the Tennessee River near Thompson Boling Arena around 2 p.m. Tuesday by Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officials.

"TWRA had been assisting the Knox County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit in the search for Hampson since the discovery of her vehicle in the O.P. Jenkins parking lot on February 28th," the sheriff's office said. 

Officials said no signs of foul play have been detected. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. 

Update Tuesday, Feb. 28, 1:45 p.m.: A missing Knox County woman's vehicle has been located in downtown Knoxville.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office said Christi Ann Hampson, 35, of West Knox County was last seen Feb. 21 at her home on Greylock Way.

Hampson's 1996 Honda Civic EX was found abandoned Tuesday morning in the parking lot of O.P. Jenkins at 209 West Summit Hill Drive. 

Investigators said they have not found any signs of foul play. The Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating in the area. 

Hampson has a tattoo of a crescent moon with a sun underneath on the center of her lower back. She also has a tattoo of a butterfly on the back of her right shoulder.

She has long curly brown hair and brown eyes.
