Great Smoky Mountains Natl. Park — UPDATE (5/17): The Great Smoky Mountains National Park said 62-year-old Timothy Cook was found safe within the national park Friday morning.

The National Park Service said Thursday that rangers were searching for a missing 62-year-old man who was last seen on May 12 near the Chimney Tops overlook in the Great Smoky Mountains.
In a release, the park service said Timothy Cook's vehicle was found unoccupied in the Chimney Tops overlook parking area on May 14. The release described Cook as a white man with black hair, a white beard and brown eyes. It said he is around 5'10" tall and weighs around 190 lbs.
Anyone with information about Cook's location should reach out to NPS by calling its tip line at 888-653-0009, or by submitting a tip online. They can also call 911 to report information.
