Metro Drug Coalition's recovery community center has provided more than 50,000 services

The Gateway marked a milestone on Friday — providing thousands of services to people seeking help on their recovery journey.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Metro Drug Coalition said Friday that its recovery community center marked a milestone in its mission to help people on their journeys to overcome addiction.

The coalition said on social media that The Gateway has given over 50,000 services since it began in September 2022. The Gateway is a place that provides people with additional support and resources, and its work is based on national, evidence-based models.

It connects people and families to social and community resources based on their unique needs, serving people on their way toward long-term recovery from any variety of addictions. The Gateway also gives people who are successful in recovery a chance to help others find success, acting as a hub where people can go to find ways to heal from substance use disorder.

"The Gateway is the key to unlocking our community’s endless possibilities for recovery resources. The center will enhance the connection between existing treatment resources and recovery support services, while providing a centralized location to coordinate access to services based on an individuals’ specific needs," MDC said on the center's webpage.

Opportunities at The Gateway include recovery coaching, family support groups, music therapy, art therapy, life-skills training and recovery social events.
