KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The League of Women Voters of Knoxville-Knox County is holding four forums this month and next so the public can hear from the many candidates running this year for county office.
The first one is 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. today at the Beck Cultural Exchange Center, 1927 Dandridge Ave. It will feature candidates for Knox County Commission Districts 1,2, 6 and 8.
This year's ballot will contain multiple candidates for Knox County Commission and the Knox County Board of Education. The offices of law director, Criminal Court judge, Division 2, and property assessor also are on the ballot.
Early voting starts Feb. 14. Election Day is Tuesday, March 5.
Other forums planned this month and next:
*6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30 at the Lennon-Seney United Methodist Church, 2084 Dandridge Ave. It will feature candidates for the Board of Education.
*6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 6900 Kingston Pike. Candidates for law director will appear.
*6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 6900 Kingston Pike. It will feature candidates for Knox County Commission Districts 4, 5 and 9.
Tuesday, March 5 marks the county primary. The general election will be in August.
Tuesday, March 5 also is the "Super Tuesday" presidential primary at which Tennesseans will cast a ballot for delegates representing their choice for president.
