KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A new center aiming to help with healing and recovery is coming to Knox County.
The McNabb Center has started construction on a new campus for women who are dealing with poor mental health, trauma or substance abuse.
The complex will include transitional and recovery housing units, group spaces and a playground for kids. Women will also learn safety and independence skills, according to the center.
The McNabb Center also said kids can live at the center with their moms as well.
"We think it's important that we have gender-based programming so women find a community with other women where they can share their path to recovery and get support from other individuals who have lived and learned experiences," Leann HUman-Hilliard, McNabb Center's executive vice president, said.
Human-Hilliard said this new center will set women in the community on a path to success in their journey to recovery.
