Maynardville Highway closed Thursday afternoon in Union County after fallen trees covered the road, took out power lines and caused a transformer to blow. It reopened by 5:30 that night.

Marynardville Highway closed from Oakland Road to Bertha's Place. The 911 center told 10News they were running off a generator as of Thursday afternoon.

Dispatch said they had multiple people working on the outage. The KUB outage map shows 272 people are without power as of 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Most of the outages appear to be in the same area as the downed trees.

The fallen trees are weather-related, according to dispatch.

A KUB spokesperson said they had already repaired the line as of 4:45 p.m.

Union County dispatch said trees were down across the area and downed power lines near Grainger County on Black Fox Hollow Road sparked a brush fire. Dispatch said the power lines were shooting blue flames and setting the woods on fire.
