Nashville company considering solar farm in Blount County

Silicon Ranch presented plans for 126 acres to the Blount County Commission.

BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — A Nashville company is looking to bring a solar farm to Blount County. Silicon Ranch presented plans to the Blount County Commission late last month.

The plans detailed a 126-acre development featuring solar panels, that would be built in the 3000-block of Sevierville Road, right outside the city limits of Maryville . The proposed solar farm is also close to the Maryville Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Plans for the development said Silicon Ranch would work with the Tennessee Valley Authority and the electricity generated from the solar panels would be used in Maryville.

According to Silicon Ranch, the company has more than 150 facilities in 15 states, including 70 projects in the Tennessee Valley.
