BSCO shooting suspect captured after billboards placed across Southeast

Kenneth Wayne DeHart Jr. was captured Tuesday and is charged with murder in a Blount County deputy's death.

BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — Update (2/13 at 4:30 p.m.): The Blount County Sheriff's Office and TBI announced Kenneth Wayne DeHart Jr. was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon in East Knoxville. You can read more about his arrest at this link.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is now featuring Blount County Sheriff's Office shooting suspect Kenneth Wayne DeHart Jr. on billboards across the region.

TBI said on Twitter earlier today that advertising company Lamar is helping them get the message out about the manhunt on digital billboards across the Southeast.

DeHart is charged with felonies of first degree murder in the shooting death of BCSO deputy Greg McCowan, attempted murder connected to the shooting of BSCO deputy Shelby Eggers, along with having a weapon as a felon. 

He's been sought since the shooting Thursday night that BCSO said happened during a traffic stop.

Locally, you can see the billboards in the Knoxville area on Clinton Highway at Callahan and at Kingston Pike near Watt Road,  and also in Maryville at Alcoa Highway near the Highway 321 interchange close to Foothills Mall. 

A reward for information leading to the arrest of DeHart Jr. has surpassed $100,000.
