Blount County authorities busted two men Friday operating an illegal moonshine still and growing marijuana inside a home.

Justin Glenn Headrick, 31, and Michael Jarrell Young, 31, both of Maryville, were charged with the manufacture of a Schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana) within 1,000 feet of a school. Young faces an additional charge for possessing a firearmduring the commission of a felony. The house was located next to Maryville High School.

Acting on community complaints, agents with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force went to the home on Mountain View Avenue in Maryville to talk to the residents. When the door was opened, the investigators could smell marijuana. They detained the three people inside the house and got a search warrant.

Investigators found an indoor marijuana grow, several marijuana plants, dried marijuana clippings, and several firearms. They also discovered a moonshine still and a "quantity of untaxed spirits."

Additional charges are pending against Headrick and Young. The third person inside the house was interviewed and released.
