Maryville church giving away free shoes, supplies to Blount County students

Rio Revolution Church will host the event on July 13.

BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — A Maryville church will give free school supplies to all Blount County students in July. Rio Revolution Church hosts the Helping Hands - Serving the Children of Blount County event on July 13 at its campus on 3419 E. Lamar Parkway.

Any student from first through 12th grade is invited to attend. They will receive free shoes, a backpack, a haircut cut and a food box. 

According to the church, a parent or guardian, along with the student, needs to be present to receive the shoes. 

Families are asked to register each child before the event, which can be done here.

The event runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and people will be assigned a time to attend based on the parent or guardian's last name. The church provided the assigned times below:

  • Last names starting with A, B or C: 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • Last names starting with D, E, F or G: 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Last names starting with H, I, J or K: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Last names starting with L, M, N or O: noon to 1 p.m.
  • Last names starting with P, Q, R or S: 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Last names starting with T, U, V, W, X, Y or Z: 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
