Reward increases to $7,500 for information helping solve murder case dating back to 2018

Maryville's Dotson Funeral Home donated an additional $2,500 to the $5,000 reward offered by the Blount County Sheriff's Office.

MARYVILLE, Tenn — A Maryville funeral home is donating some of its own money to help find the killer of an Alcoa woman.

Dotson Funeral Home is donating $2,500 to the reward being offered by the Blount County Sheriff's Office for information leading to the arrest and convict of the person responsible for killing Cheyenne Tonisha Shropshire.

Shropshire, 22, went missing in September 2018, and her remains were found in March 2020. Her family didn't get a portion of her remains until earlier this month, allowing them to host a funeral.

The funeral will be held at Dotson Funeral Home on Thursday.

Forensics experts at the Knox County Regional Forensic Center ruled her death as a homicide. BCSO is still offering a $5,000 reward for information in the case.

The donation from Dotson Funeral Home brings the total reward money to $7,500.

“I would say we are thankful for the community for always keeping her in mind and praying about it— and giving us tips," Savannah Buhl, Shropshire's sister, said. "Please continue to be vigilant and to give us any information they know to help us prosecute the monster who did this."
