(WBIR) A new ambulance company headquartered in Knoxville announced Wednesday it's expanding into Blount County.
Priority Ambulance said the expansion will create more than 20 jobs for Blount County. The only service Priority currently offers is non-emergency transport, including basic life support, advanced life support and critical care transport. Gibson, Priority's CEO, said he plans to pursue emergency contracts with counties and cities when the time comes. He also plans to build Priority into a nationwide company eventually.
The company's Blount County office will open on 131 Cherokee Heights Drive in Maryville.
Rob Webb will serve as Priority Ambulance's vice president of Tennessee operations. Webb is currently finishing his second term on the Blount County School Board. He has more than 27 years of experience in emergency medical services. Before joining Priority, Webb was the division general manager for Rural/Metro of East Tennessee. The governor also appointed Webb to two terms on the Tennessee EMS Board.
Ron Parker will serve as Priority's director of operations for Blount County. Parker has nearly 30 years of experience in the emergency medical services field. Most recently, Parker served as market general manager and head of operations for Rural/Metro's Blount County EMS operations.
