What to know: Blount County Super Tuesday elections

Super Tuesday elections are coming up. Here are some early voting statistics and what to know before casting a ballot on Tuesday!

BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — Blount County has around 95,000 registered voters. Leaders said 6,505 voted early, and 248 cast absentee ballots. 

Around 88% of ballots cast were for the Republican party's primary elections, and around 12% voted in the Democratic party's primary elections.

The contested local races include Assessor of Property, where Allen Latham and Todd Orr are vying to be the Republican nominee. 

School Board District 2 also has two contenders, John Lowe and Josh Marler, to become the Republican nominee in the Blount County General Election. That election is set for Aug. 1.

School District 4 has four people vying to be the Republican nominee — Trevis Gardner, Diana Mehaffey, Josh Sullins and Chris Pass, Sr.

Rockford residents will also vote on who they want for a seat on the City Commission. Current Mayor Carl Koella III is running against Jim Jamison and the winner will take the seat.

What should I know before I vote? 

Polls in Blount County open at 8 a.m. They close at 8 p.m. If you are in line before 8 p.m., you can still cast your vote. 

Voters must have a valid photo ID.
