MARYVILLE, Tenn. — A new-to-market wholesale retailer is coming to Blount County.
BJ's Wholesale announced its plans to expand into East Tennessee this week and will occupy the former JC Penney space at Foothills Mall in Maryville. The Blount Partnership told 10News in February that this retailer was developing a store in the area.
"We are thrilled to be expanding our footprint into the East Tennessee market with our first club location in (the Knoxville market), to open in early 2025," said Briana Keene Bryant, BJ's Wholesale Senior Manager of External Communications, in an email to 10News.
Bryant said the store will hire 100 people and also features a gas station — BJ's Gas.
"We are excited to continue our expansion in Tennessee, after opening clubs in La Vergne and Mt. Juliet last year and most recently, in Goodlettsville, which opened this past February," Keene said.
BJ's joins a number of new businesses opening in Blount County, including the new-to-market Chase Bank, which is planning a Maryville location.
