BCSO: Maryville couple arrested, charged with child sex crimes

The sheriff's office said a man is accused of injecting a teenager with methamphetamine and then sexually assaulting the child.

BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — A Maryville couple is facing child sex crimes charges after they were accused in the drugging and sexual assault of a teenager.

According to the Blount County Sheriff's Office, deputies opened an investigation into David Dewayne Drinnen, 60, and Cayla Shae Hopkins Drinnen last month.

Deputies started looking into David Drinnen after they said they received information that he injected the teen with methamphetamine and raped the child at the couple's home.

BSCO said during the investigation they found other evidence that Cayla Drinnen offered to pay a different teen to perform sexual acts on David Drinnen in their home.

David Drinnen is charged with aggravated rape and failure to follow the rules of the court because he is currently on probation for a prior crime. He's being held on a $250,000 bond.

Cayla Drinnen is charged with aggravated rape, aggravated child abuse, trafficking for commercial sex, and two counts of solicitation of a minor. She is also currently on probation for prior crimes and is being held on a $800,000 bond.

Both suspects are scheduled to appear in Blount General Sessions Court on Aug. 21.
