Marijuana tampons are here to help ease period discomfort

Cramps, lower back pain, fatigue. Many women hate the time of the month when their period shows up.

Cramps, lower back pain, fatigue. Many women hate the time of the month when their period shows up.

Many flock to painkillers like Midol, Advil, and Tylenol when the pain becomes too severe. But a new remedy has some women curious.

Marijuana tampons. Yes, they apparently exist now.

The company Foria is putting out the tampons and the creators of the product say it helps ease the discomfort, without giving women a psychotropic high.

"This is okay because they're not getting a high off it," Angie Cruz from Davis says. "If it was medical marijuana, if it wasn't such a high I would be okay with it. But some people just abuse it."

A pack of four marijuana tampons would cost $44, according to their website foriapleasure.com.
They are made of only three things -- cocoa butter, distilled THC oil, and an ingredient grown from organic hemp.

Reviewers on the website claim it's relaxing and has helped with lower back problems. They also say it smells like cookie dough and cocoa butter.

"I should think it would be a good thing if it relieves problems. It's alright for people to say don't do it, but if you can't live your life the way you want to...anything to relieve anything, pain, is a good idea," Sacramento visitor Pauline William Houthten says.

The tampons are only available in Colorado and California for people who have a medical marijuana card or a doctor's recommendation letter. Foria claims it is trying to get the tampons to other states where the law allows.
