KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A home in Lonsdale was closed Monday after authorities said they received dozens of calls for help from it.
The District Attorney General's Office said the home is located at 1523 Minnesota Ave. and was closed under state nuisance laws. The Knoxville Police Department said officers had previously responded to more than 80 calls for service there. The release also said informants bought drugs from inside the home, leading to a search warrant.
After searching the home, authorities said they found cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine and several guns. Following that, the release said drugs continued to be sold at the home.
Authorities also said overdoses were reported at the home in the past. According to records, both owners of the home face previous drug-related charges.
"(The) investigation has shown an open atmosphere for illegal activity including drug use, quarreling, breaches of the peace, drug sales, drug overdoses, and two drug-related overdose deaths," said a petition to shutter the home.
The petition said in one call from 2021, an owner of the home was charged with domestic assault against the other owner. In June 2023, authorities were called to the home and found a person had died due to fentanyl, cocaine, cocaethylene and alcohol toxicity. Officers also responded to a suspected overdose in October 2022.
In another August 2023 call, the petition said in one call dispatchers were told a man had shot a gun that hit another man in the foot. Several other calls involved domestic disturbances, according to the petition.
The owners of the home are expected in court on Dec. 4, according to the temporary injunction issued to shutter the home. Its closure marked 63 homes closed by the Knox County District Attorney General's Office, according to a release.
