(WBIR - MARYVILLE) Lockdowns were lifted at two Blount County Schools after man tried to enter an exterior door to a fifth grade classroom at Carpenters Elementary on Thursday morning.
Blount County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Marian O'Briant said a man in a black hoodie tried to enter the school around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
Carpenters Middle School is across the street from the elementary school, and was also placed on lockdown.
The Blount County Sheriff's Office, K9 officers and other deputies searched in the nearby woods for the man.The K9 was tracking the individual, but the track stopped.
Authorities have been unable to find the man.
The lockdown has been lifted at both schools.
