KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Lincoln Memorial University-College of Dental Medicine student dental clinic is now open and accepting new patients.
Located at the LMU Tower on 1705 St. Mary Street, the student clinic provides dental care at a reduced cost, according to a release from LMU.
“This clinic provides a unique opportunity for the community to receive high-quality dental care at a reduced cost, while also contributing to the education and training of future dental professionals,” LMU-CDM Interim Dean Qi Wang, DDS said.
All dental work at the clinic is performed by pre-doctoral dental students under close supervision of licensed, experienced faculty dentists. According to LMU-CDM, while the clinic operates differently, patients can expect to receive the same standard of care with the benefit of individualized attention and lower fees.
Patients undergo a preliminary screening process to determine needs and make sure they are suitable teaching cases for student doctors. The process includes a medical and dental history review, a comprehensive oral examination and dental X-rays, LMU-CDM said.
Due to personalized care and educational focus, appointments may take longer than usual, with sessions lasting up to four hours, according to the release. This extended time allows students and faculty to work closely on every aspect of patient treatment, to ensure the highest level of care.
Appointments are open at the LMU-CDM student clinic Monday through Thursday at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Patients can schedule an appointment by calling 865-370-2128.
