NEW MARKET, Tenn. — Lick Skillet Farm, a large dairy, poultry and pork farm, was burned to the ground after a fire broke out Monday morning.
At around 4:17 a.m., the New Market Fire Department responded to a reported barn fire on Lick Skillett Lane. They said the fire was discovered by a worker. After crews arrived, the barn was fully involved.
They said some farm animals along with farm equipment were lost in the fire.
The owner and workers got most of the animals out but according to NMFD, some of the animals that were killed were turkeys. No other injuries were reported.
The fire department said they used a total of 70,000 gallons of water with help from Rural Metro Fire, Jefferson City Fire, Lakeway Central Fire, Kansas Talbott Fire along with Jefferson County EMS and Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.
New Market Fire has not released information about how the fire started.
