LOUDON COUNTY, Tenn. — It's Read Across America Week and members of the Loudon County community went out and read to children at school.
The annual reading motivation and awareness program calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading with the theme: Celebrating a Nation of Diverse Readers. The purpose of the week is to promote reading through events and partnerships among children and teens.
The Loudon County Sheriff's Office K9 handlers and Narcotics Investigators visited Loudon Elementary School on Thursday to read to first and second-grade students.
LCSO deputies read a few books to the students and allowed the classes to meet their loyal K9 partners.
Read Across America Week ends Wednesday, March 6.
