The plant will be more than 250,000 square feet in size with dedicated space for warehousing as well as paint and coatings production.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — PPG's newest paint and coatings manufacturing facility will be in Loudon, officials announced Tuesday.

PPG is investing $225 million and creating 129 new jobs in Loudon County through the project. The plant will be PPG's first new U.S. manufacturing facility in over a decade.

“Tennessee is leading the nation in attracting top global brands like PPG to the Volunteer State. I welcome PPG and thank this company for its commitment to creating greater opportunity for Tennesseans across the Greater Knoxville region," Gov. Bill Lee said.

The plant will be more than 250,000 square feet in size with dedicated space for warehousing as well as paint and coatings production.

PPG is based in Pittsburgh and develops, manufactures and distributes paints, coating and specialty materials worldwide. The company operates in more than 70 countries and reported net sales of more than $18 billion in 2023.

“I appreciate PPG’s decision to open its new operations facility in Loudon. As an American Fortune 500 company and global supplier of paints, coatings and specialty materials, this new location will create 129 new jobs in our community and bring a substantial investment of $225 million dollars into our area. Hopefully, this facility will also serve as the foundation for PPG’s future growth in this region," Loudon Mayor Jeff Harris said.

The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development said it's supported more than 50 economic development projects in the East Tennessee area resulting in approximately 9,700 job commitments and $2.9 billion in capital investment.
