(WBIR-Knoxville) A trial for a Texas truck driver charged in a crash that killed a Lenoir City teacher has ended in a mistrial.
Darold Reimer was charged with vehicular homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment, after the May 2012 crash on I-40 at Campbell Station Road. Investigators said Reimer's tractor trailer triggered a chain reaction crash that killed Kim Towson, a special education teacher, and injured two others.
Reimer's trial began Monday in a Knox County courtroom, and the case was sent to the jury around lunchtime on Tuesday. The jury told Judge Steven Sword they could not reach a verdict, and he declared a mistrial.
The District Attorney General's office said that Reimer could still be tried on the same charges, but they have not made the decision on whether or not to pursue that yet.
