Knoxville — Want to make a difference? You can help a high schooler continue their education with tnAchieve.
TN Promise is looking for mentors for their tnAchieves program. TN Promise offers every high school senior a chance for free tuition to state community and technical colleges.
"tnAchieves was born here in Knoxville 10 years ago, and serves as the model for TN Promise, a last dollar scholarship giving every student the opportunity to go to college," Executive Director Krissy DeAlejandro said.

This year, they have more than 63,000 students participating and need about 9,000 volunteers to serve as mentors.
The volunteer work only requires one hour a month. Each applicant receives mandatory training and a background check to work with students.
"The heart of the program is our volunteer mentor program that allows students to have a really solid support system as they make transition from high school to college," DeAlejandro said.
If you have a passion for education, she says you are the right fit!
"Our mentors are a game changer for our students, our students are sometimes the first of their family to go to college so having someone to be a resource, encourager, to say we can do this together can be the difference maker for many of our students," DeAlejandro said.
