League of Women Voters hosting forum for Knox County Commission candidates Thursday evening

The forum starts at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, giving people a chance to hear directly from candidates about their ideals and ideas for Knox County.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knox County's general election is fast approaching, and early voting is set to start on July 12. With just around two weeks before voters can start casting ballots, the League of Women Voters is hosting a candidate forum, giving people a chance to hear directly from candidates for the Knox County Commission.

At the forum, candidates are expected to discuss the ideas they have for Knox County and their opinions on different issues and policies. Organizers said on social media that all candidates were invited to participate in the forum. However, there were no candidates invited for District 3 and District 7 because those seats were not on the ballot.

The district seats at stake in the election are listed below.

  • District 1
  • District 2
  • District 4
  • District 5
  • District 6
  • District 8

The forum will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Fourth United Presbyterian Church in North Knoxville, located at 1323 North Broadway. It is expected to last until around 8 p.m.

While only the candidates for Knox County Commission were invited to the forum, the election also includes races for Board of Education seats, the Assessor of Property role as well as state and federal primary races. Farragut will also vote on who they want as aldermen.

Ahead of the election, WBIR has also reached out to several candidates on the ballot to speak with them about their ideas and goals. Those conversations with the candidates are available here.

Election Day for the federal and state primary election, the Knox County general election and the Town of Farragut municipal election is Aug. 1.
