Lakeshore Park back open to the public, sections of the park remain closed for now

The public is asked to please avoid certain areas to allow crews to safely finish their work.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — UPDATE: Parts of Lakeshore Park are open to the public as of Saturday afternoon. 

The park is asking people to be cautious while in the park since there is more work to be done. 

There is a small section of trail along Northshore that remains closed. The park is asking that people avoid the area.

Lakeshore Park remains closed after Monday's severe weather downed trees in the popular park. 

Crews are working to remove the trees and clear walkways starting Friday. The public is asked to please avoid the park to allow crews to safely finish up their work. They said they would stay closed through Saturday.

A group of volunteers with boots and clippers were expected to help clean up the park Saturday morning at around 7 a.m. and work through 12 p.m. Anyone who wants to help can email brittany@lakeshoreparkknoxville.org.

Multiple trees are down in Lakeshore Park. It will be closed as crews work to clear the area. Please be advised and be careful on area roadways this evening.
